Our Team
ALEJANDRO HENAO
Grew up playing and being a football fan since he was born in Cali, Colombia. Alejandro has two teenagers boys, who also play soccer, and it was thanks to the soccer cleats that they grew out of it, and seeing the many needs in Colombia, that he decided to collect and donate them to a larger scale. 2022 marked the year in which he started living longer in the United States than in Colombia so he decided to launch Good Play America Foundation.
Alejandro has a PhD in engineering from the University of Colorado and is currently a research scientist with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) working in transportation and energy solutions. He has numerous publications and continues to present at national and international conferences. Besides loving being a dad, his job at NREL, and GPA Foundation; he loves to stay active playing sports and traveling the World
CHRISTIAN KAZU
Highly experienced advertising creative director with over 20 years of international experience. Born in Cali, Colombia. He has developed a deep understanding of various cultures and their unique advertising needs. A true soccer fan, Christian is passionate about his work and always strives to create impactful and effective campaigns. He currently resides in Miami with his wife Diana, and enjoys listening to jazz in his spare time. He is also heavily involved in various charities and is dedicated to helping less fortunate.
AMII THOMPSON
Grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, but headed to the Pacific Northwest to attend college at Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) and never looked back. She is a mom to two soccer loving boys, Landon (13) and Carson (10) and is the Executive Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning for the Bainbridge Island School District. Amii was a teacher for 13 years, an elementary school principal for 6 years and has a passion for helping children. For fun Amii loves to travel, spend time with friends and family, and spends a lot of time on the soccer sideline cheering on her boys!
ALVARO CALERO
Founder and managing director of Cali Media Inc. a live event and video production company based in San Jose, CA. Since 2022, Alvaro has been working in Houston, TX where he lives with his wife Olga and his two kids, Martin (12) and Sara (8). Alvaro was born in Cali, Colombia and by now has spent half of his life living in the US. Besides spending most of his time producing shows and videos, Alvaro enjoys playing instruments, producing music, traveling, and of course, playing soccer with his friends. Being part of Good Play America´s board is one of the highlights of his life and he could not be happier to join this project that will change the lives of many kids around the world.
JORGE MILLAN
Jorge is a seasoned technology professional with over 20 years of experience working for large enterprises. He was born in Cali, Colombia, and moved to the United States to attend college. He resides in Trumbull, Connecticut, with his wife Claudia, sons Sebastian and Nicolas, and two dogs, Dante and Agnes. Jorge is and avid soccer fan and loves to travel and spend time with his family. He is dedicated to giving back to his community. He strongly advocates for social causes that bring opportunities to children, focusing on education, nutrition, and mental/emotional/physical support.
